TZANEEN – The Tzaneen Bowls Club reached another milestone with the successful hosting of its Selected 2-Bowl Trips competition, an event that concluded with a thrilling final worthy of centre stage.
The debut tournament delivered a gripping showdown between two contrasting teams: the rapidly rising novices Yolandie de Kock, Gielie de Kock, and Herbie Fox, and the seasoned inter-district trio of Stoffel Vermaak, Sarie Vermaak, and Tjokkie von Strate.
The novices, who have been drawing attention in recent months, entered the final with poise, determination, and a growing reputation for fearless play. Their opponents, veterans of high-level district competition, brought years of experience, tactical discipline, and an ability to stay composed under pressure.
The final match lived up to expectations, producing high-quality bowls and a nail-biting contest. In the end, the experience and strategic edge of the inter-district team proved decisive, securing them a 14–10 victory and the honour of becoming the first champions of the newly launched event.
Club officials and spectators applauded both teams for their performance, with special recognition given to the runners-up for their competitive spirit and impressive progress.
