TZANEEN – The first competition of the year set the tone for what promises to be an exciting season, with members turning out in impressive numbers and bringing plenty of competitive spirit to the greens.

The second 2-4-2 Bowls Competition was held under unusual circumstances, as the defending champions were unable to take part. This left the field wide open and created the perfect opportunity for a new champion to emerge.

From the opening bowl to the end, the standard of play was exceptionally high, with closely fought matches and fiercely contested games throughout the day.

After a series of tight encounters, the competition came down to a thrilling final between Theo Wolmarans and Illse van Eck, and Willie Jonker and Ansie Taute.

Willie and Ansie dominated the early stages and looked firmly on course for victory in the first half.

However, Theo and Illse showed remarkable determination and resilience, mounting an outstanding comeback to turn the match around and claim a hard-earned win.

A total of 22 teams entered the competition, with some participants even cutting their holidays short to be part of the event. This level of commitment highlighted the passion and enthusiasm within the club and underscored the importance of the competition on the calendar.
