Family desperate for answers after man goes missing in Mbombela

The family of 45-year-old Dwayne David Nash, who disappeared after leaving his rental home in Mbombela, are appealing for information after his vehicle was found stripped.

LIMPOPO – The family of a 45-year-old man who went missing in Mbombela earlier this month say they are distraught and desperate for answers.

Dwayne David Nash was last seen on February 3 after leaving the house he was renting in the city at about 08:00. He reportedly informed his domestic worker that he would be away for a week and that she could take time off during his absence.

Nash’s relatives, who are based in Nylstroom, as well as his nephew, Heinrich Britz, spoke on February 28 about the family’s growing concern.

“We were told that he left without saying where he was going,” Britz said.

He described Nash as slim-built, about 1.79m tall and weighing roughly 75kg, with green eyes. Britz added that the family has not had any contact with him since February 7.

On Thursday, February 26, the family received a phone call from a man in Tzaneen who had previously sold Nash the vehicle he was using at the time of his disappearance.

“He said the police contacted him to inform him that the vehicle had been discovered stripped in the bushes between White River and Bushbuckridge,” Britz said.

Mpumalanga police spokesperson Captain Mpho Nonyane-Mpe confirmed the recovery of the vehicle.

“Our records indicate that the vehicle is registered to another individual. Investigations into the circumstances surrounding its recovery are ongoing,” Nonyane-Mpe said.

Britz added that he has since opened a missing person’s case at the Nylstroom police station.

Anyone with information that may assist in locating Nash is urged to contact Britz on 067 404 5440.
