Active fun day held at Merensky

Around 200 or more employees who work in the department's different offices were invited to take part in the activities.

The Department of Education in Mopani West held an active fun day at Merensky High School on Friday 5 July.

Around 200 or more employees who work in the department’s different offices were invited to take part in the activities.

All the employees from Mopani West came from the following areas; the Greater Tzaneen Municipality, Maruleng Municipality and Greater Letaba Municipality. The day started with a 4km fun walk and marathon followed by aerobics, 100km sprinting competition, tug of war and the last man seated game respectively.

“This day gives us an opportunity to get to know each other and to also face the third quarter of the year in a healthy state. “If we are active we are able to work efficiently and effectively without taking sick leaves. By doing this we are trying to build a culture of activeness and this is one of my legancy I want to leave behind when I exit office one day,”explained Philipine Modika, Department of Education Mopani West Director.

The First Lady of Tzaneen Mokgadi Mangena was among the people who took part in the occasion. The day was a success as the workers were mingling with each other despite fatigue as a result of the activities.
