Trailblazers end series on high note

The final leg of the Pam Golding Wildlife Estate Series took place at Blyde Wildlife Estate on July 27 with Malwandla Ndlovu, Villiers Steyn and Kevin Pietersen taking the overall wins on the series short, medium and long routes.

On the long course, Kevin Pietersen took first place on the 20km route at Blyde Wildlife Estate. He completed the run in 1:37:51 to bring his total time over the four races in the series to 6:47:34. David Rose took second place overall in the series and took second place at Blyde Wildlife Estate. He completed the Pam Golding Wildlife Estate Series in a total time of 6:48:41, just a minute behind Pietersen making for an exciting series finale.

Villiers Steyn is the overall winner on the long course of the Pam Golding Wildlife Estate Series

Alloise Mdhlovu took third place overall and completed the Blyde trail in 1:42:34. On the medium course, it was Villiers Steyn who took the overall series win despite being the fifth runner to cross the finish line at Blyde Wildlife Estate. He completed the Wildlife Estate Series in a total time of 4:16:10 and was the only male runner to compete in all four legs of the series. Francois Steyn was the winner of the Blyde trail run. He crossed the finish line with 51:08 on the clock.

Robin Cook took second place and Justin Mitchell took third place. Maryna Steinmann won the women’s division on the medium course of the series. She completed the Blyde 10km trail run in 1:06:25 and completed the series in a total time of 4:42:19. Angelica Pietersen took second place overall in the women’s division and Jemma Legg took third place. Malwandla Ndlovu took the overall win on the short course.

Ndlovu, a u/16 runner completed the Blyde 5km trial in 27:18, his best time in the series this year. He completed the series in a total time of 1:59:18. Niwaku Manganyi, also a u/16 runner, took second place overall in the series. Jordan Prinsloo (u/16) is the winner of the women’s division. Stefani Steyn (u/12) took second place in the series and Kate Gardner is in third place.

On the 5km trail at Blyde Vusy Chiloane (u/16) took second place while Dzuni Mkansi (u/16) took third place, sharing the podium with Ndlovu.
