Emanuel FC are hoping to maintain its current good form when the league resumes in January after a break during the festive season. The club got off to a good start and is the only team in the ABC Motsepe League that has yet to concede a goal. “If we had scored more goals in the games we played, we would be in position one now,” explained the club’s general manager, Musa Maluleke.

Soccer fans chant songs at the stadium.

“The club is currently in third place because of a ball differential although it has the same points as the teams in first and second place. Maluleke said his team aim to improve their performance even more when the league resumes in January. “To ensure that our boys keep in shape and do not lose their current performance, we have joined two tournaments that are going to be happening over the festive season, so that, come January, we will be ready for any team that will cross paths with us,” he said.

Maluleke said players are currently in great form and can easily win any promotional playoffs if they were to qualify today. “We have beefed up our squad to a level where we believe that we can hold our ground against any team we face,” he continued. He said they will continue to improve on players.

“I’m not saying the current squad is not strong enough, but as the season progresses, there might be a need here and there to get one or two players to beef up our team even more to ensure continuous success,” he said. Maluleke encouraged supporters to attend Emanuel FC games, both at home and away because it drives them to perform even better. “We need more supporters because it inspires the players to play at their best,” he said.
