Culpable homicide investigated
La Pomme Vert hosted a Pop-up Food Shop in memory of Mapule Sereto.
Mapule (23) and her boyfriend, Mr Samson Kgwedi (27), were hit by a motorbike in SADC Street on Saturday afternoon.
She was declared dead on the scene after paramedics tried in vain to resuscitate her.
The driver of the motorbike, Paul “Reaper” Carr, was taken to hospital with fractures and a head injury. His passenger, whose name is not known, sustained a knee fracture but did not receive medical assistance.
The man, together with another biker, were rushed from the scene after bystanders became aggressive.

Mr Kgwedi was taken to hospital with a serious leg injury.
Mapule was the sole breadwinner of her family of four. She lived with her mother Tebogo, brother Thaba (16) and sister Kgomotso (12).
She will be laid to rest on Sunday at 09:00. Mapule’s body will be brought to the accident scene before going to the Tokologo Cemetery.
• Police confirmed that a case of culpable homicide is being investigated.
• In memory of her life and to help Mapule’s family with much needed funds, all proceeds from the Pop-up Food Shop will be donated to the Sereto family.
The event was held at the La Pomme Vert restaurant in Fountain Square (next to the Middelburg Mall).
• Mr Carr made rude comments to a journalist at the Oktoberfest less than an hour before the accident occurred on Saturday. This is vehemently denied by his friends who were with him at the time.
