(Graphic Content) – Update: Condom sent for DNA testing
A condom which was found on a scene where a dog was raped, was sent to the police's forensics department for DNA testing.
Senior Inspector Petro Oberholzer (SPCA) had to take blood from the dog to the police, so that they compare blood which was found on a condom on a scene where a dog was allegedly raped.
A 17 year-old boy from Doornkop appeared in the Middelburg Magistrates Court on Monday on cases under the Animal Protection Act, which include: bestiality and torturing of an animal.
On her way to court Inspector Oberholzer told the Observer that she is going to oppose bail. “Today it is a dog, tomorrow a child or an old woman!”
Community members contacted the police after they discovered a boy who allegedly raped a dog.
Capt Kanyisile Zwane (Middelburg Police spokesperson) said that the boy was visiting his girlfriend when the alleged incident occurred.
Neighbours told police that they discovered the boy asleep, with a condom still pulled over his penis. The four month old lifeless body of an Africanis type dog was found next to him.
The police gave the carcass of the dog to the SPCA, which took it to veterinarian, Dr Charmaine van der Linde, for a postmortem.
• Inspector Oberholzer would like to thank the police for their quick response and the way they handled the investigation.
• A prosecutor (who wants to stay anonymous) said that the state will be apposing bail. Early Monday morning there was a preliminary inquiry, but they were still waiting for the social workers, before the case could go to court. By the time of going to print, the suspect did not appear yet.
• Shaun Lee Bezuidehout was arrested in 2011 after he was caught red handed having intercourse with a Boerbull.
The case was postponed several times, after which it was provisionally withdrawn. The docket was sent to the police for follow-up, but was never send to court again.
