Update: Three major political parties to protest during coffin case

It has been confirmed that the three major polictical parties have all applied for permission to picket during tomorrow’s court case.

The ANC Youth League was first to hand in their application this morning, followed by the EFF at 14:00, stating the change of venue for the court case from Blinkpan to Middelburg as their reason, and the DA at 16:00.

The assembly point for groups planning to participate in the protest is not yet certain.

It was initially thought that it will be at the Pick ’n Pay parking lot. A WhatsApp broadcast doing the rounds is requesting ‘comrades’ and ‘concerned citizens’ to assemble behind Steve Tshwete Municipal buildings and march from there.

This might impact traffic down the busy Walter Sisulu Street.

The municipality were still considering the applications and Prudence Magutle, municipal spokesperson, promised to reply about the allocated assembly points as soon as a decision has been made.
