(Video) Update: Christmas in jail for coffin case suspects

The two men accused of putting a man in a coffin and threatening to douse him with petrol, will have to remain in custody until their next appearance in January.

Willem Oosthuizen and Theo Jackson entered a packed courtroom filled with local and international media for their bail application.

They face charges of assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm and kidnapping.

State prosecutor Rean Lourens, said that the state is opposing bail, stating amongst others the chance of the accused intimidating the victim and the massive public outcry as reasons.

The accused’s legal representative, Christo Geldenhuys, said that they will not be applying for bail until their next court appearance in January.
