Hendrina Police lied about drug sting

It appears that the Hendrina Police were not so brave when recently handling pythons “to uncover a stash of drugs” and apparently lied about the entire story.

Hendrina SAPS made headlines all over the country earlier this month when a photo of a Police Constable handling pythons when searching for drugs went viral on social media.

Police stated that “ninety pinches of nyaope were found at the premises. The man was then arrested and charged for being in possession of drugs”.

Police spokeperson Captain Leonard Hlathi said that they have launched an internal probe into the matter.

“We can confirm that no one was arrested and no drugs were found. It was not a Police operation as stated before. We will not comment further until the internal probe is complete”.

The snake belongs to Andre Joubert of Hendrina – the only person in that town with snakes. He stated that Police wanted to see the snakes and asked to take a picture with them.
