Acid attacker sentenced to prison

The woman who threw acid into the face of her lover’s mistress, scarring her for life, has been dealt a hefty sentence.

Euphemia Sethema (35) was sentenced in the Middelburg Magistrates’ Court recently.

Sethema was charged with attempted murder after she flung acid at Linah Sesy Skhosana (28) in July 2015.

The incident is said to have happened at the house of the father of her two children, where she encountered Skhosana doing washing during a visit.

Skhosana was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit at the Middelburg Hospital after the incident and sustained irreparable damage to her face, arm and chest.

She covered her face and upper body with a scarf when she had to come to court to testify.
