Conspiracy to rob Studio 88
Five suspects were arrested in Walter Sisulu Street near the Nkangala District Municipality last Wednesday morning for conspiracy to commit an armed robbery at Studio 88 in the Middelburg CBD.
Police received a tip-off early this week as the hit was initially scheduled to take place on Tuesday. But a heavy police presence deterred the suspects who returned on Wednesday to commit the crime.
But before they could even get close to the vicinity of Studio 88 in OR Tambo street, police pulled them over, searched and arrested them.
One unlicensed firearm was seized and all five suspects appeared last Thursday before the Middelburg Magistrate’s Court.
They have been identified as Sfiso Ben Simela, Sizwe Mthethwa, Trevor Mosiya, Lindikhaya Gwebusha and Sipho Sibiya.
