New models to be electric by early 2030s – Nissan

Japanese multinational automobile manufacturer Nissan has committed itself to manufacturing vehicles which are in line with environmental sustainability efforts.

Nissan Motor Co said on Wednesday all its “new vehicle offerings” in key markets would be electrified by the early 2030s, as part of the Japanese automaker’s efforts to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.

Nissan said it hopes its vehicles will either be hybrid or fully electric by early 2030 in most automotive markets which include Japan, China, Europe and the US.

The drive to build electric vehicles is part of Nissans long term strategic plans to be carbon neutral by 2050. Many automakers are also pushing for the same. This is in line with some market demands. The UK as an example will not allow cars with only petrol or diesel powering capabilities to be sold by 2030.

Japan wants to stop gasoline powered cars by mid-2030.The country laid out a green growth strategy to help reach its carbon neutral goals.
