The DA and FF+ list

Today marked the deadline for political parties, contesting the local elections, to submit their final candidates lists.

The window for submission officially lapsed at midnight, and both the DA and FF+ submitted their final lists way ahead of cut off time.

COPE has disappeared from the political scene entirely, with the resignation of its only councillor, Mr Ben Mokoena on Tuesday.

• The FF+ only has six candidates, to contest various wards among them, for Middelburg, excluding Mr Karel Uys who is the party’s candidate for Hendrina.
