Water supply to Midmed reaches critically low levels

Water supply to Midmed Hospital reached critically low levels on Wednesday afternoon following a pipe burst that cut off water supply to most of Middelburg during the early hours of the morning.

Spokesperson Helani Nel said that contingent plans have been put in place as water supply to the hospital is crucial.

“We implemented several contingency plans as we are always prepared for any eventuality,” she said. “As far as we are concerned this is not a crisis as we received confirmation that the water supply will be restored very shortly”.

Most parts of town, including central, the industrial area, Mineralia and Eastdene have no supply of water since the early hours of Wednesday morning.
