Update: Broken valve to blame for no water

A broke valve which occurred on Wednesday is the core reason that water supply was cut off for three days to almost all of Middelburg.

Steve Tshwete municipality spokesperson Prudence Magutle admitted that it was a crisis.

“The Civil Engineering department is working around the clock to ensure that the water supply to the whole of Middelburg is fully restored by this afternoon (Friday)”, she said.

Ms Magutle also denied that it was related to the municipal strike.

“The incident had nothing to do with the protest action”
