Update: New schedule for Kranspoort
Continuous rock falls in the Kranspoort Pass has forced the Contractor to embark on a new plan of action, meaning more road closures for motorist’s safety, starting Monday, 6 July.
The following schedule will be implemented as from Monday, 6 July 2015.
• Mondays, the pass will be closed at 09:00 till 10:30, from 11:00 till 12:30, from 13:00 till 14:30, and from 15:00 till 16:30. Vehicles will be afforded half hour intervals to pass through.
• Tuesdays, the pass will be closed from 11:00 to 15:00.
• Wednesdays, the pass will be closed from 11:00 to 15:00.
• Thursdays, the pass will be closed from 11:00 to 15:00.
• Fridays, the pass will be closed at 09:00 till 10:30, from 11:00 till 12:30, from 13:00 till 14:30, and from 15:00 till 16:30. Vehicles will be afforded half hour intervals to pass through.
• Saturdays and Sundays the pass will be open except for the normal stop go delays.
The above schedule was implemented purely for motorist’s safety. Rock falls are not only fatal, it causes major clean-up operations to clear the road.
Motorists are urged to plan their trips according to the closure times stipulated.
With motorist’s understanding, Sanral will be in a position to complete the works in the shortest possible time.
