Update: Boy reunited with family

Three year old Mzwakhe was reunited with his family on Monday afternoon.

The toddler was found by a community member dazed and confused near the main road in Doornkop, who took him to the Middelburg police station for safety.

Middelburg police Detectives arrived in Doornkop on the rainy Monday afternoon to look for the toddlers parents. They quickly got directions to the grandparents house.

Upon arrival the child refused to stay behind with his grandmother and aunt.

Detectives were instructed to go to where the mother works, where they found her working at a nearby centre.

The woman known only has Lisbet told police she did look for her son but failed to find him on Sunday as she thought he was at his grandparents house.

According to Captain Khanyisile Zwane, the matter will be referred to Social Workers, to asses the mother and their living conditions.
