Unprotected municipal strike tomorrow
Steve Tshwete municipal workers under SAMWU has announced their plans to strike on Wednesday morning.
Municipal workers are dissatisfied with the answers they got from Steve Tshwete Local Municipality Management on the demands given to them during a strike in September this year.
The town holds its breath as the previous strike left the town in disarray, burnt palm trees, overturned dustbins and burning of tyres.
Strikers will assemble at the Eric Jiyane Hall in Mhluzi on Wednesday 07:00 and then march through the CBD to the town council.
Their demands include: “stands allocation and housing allowance, restructuring and placement of staff, corruption within the municipality and the high tariffs.”
The Observer team will be on the scene.
