STRONG LANGUAGE: (Exclusive video) – Shock footage of arrest which sparked racial unrest

A video of the attempted arrest of the man who allegedly assaulted a worker of Highveld Emporium in front of a Machadodorp tavern on Monday, emerged today following violent unrest in the town where a shop was looted and burnt.

The video shows two security officers arriving at the tavern to arrest a man who allegedly assaulted an employee of Highveld Emporium while walking home from work.

The owner of Highveld Emporium dispatched the security company when he learnt of the assault on his employee, who was admitted to hospital with multiple injuries.

While trying to subdue the suspect the community rushed to his aid can be seen shoving, pulling and slapping at the two security guards.
The situation becomes explosive as more people arrive.

The two security guards are accused of racism and the angry community can be seen accosting the guards in the police’s presence.

On Tuesday the community targeted the owner of Highveld Emporium for phoning the security guards, by looting his shop and setting it alight.
During the chaos residents of Machadodorp were warned to stay indoors and away from Potgieter Street where the shop was torched.

Protesters have dispersed but police remain on alert.
