Man killed in Midwater shooting identified
The innocent victim who was killed in the CIT heist at the Midwater Engen Filling Station has been identified.

Mr John Oupa Hobe (41) was a local from Mathaileng, Mhluzi. Hobe was fatally shot in the head after the armed robbers brazenly opened fire in a full-blown armed assault.
After Mr Hobe was struck, medics at the scene fought to keep him alive and stabilise him before he was rushed to hospital.

According to other media houses, the national police spokesperson, Brenda Muridili, announced that Mr Hobe was a petrol attendant under the filling station’s employment.
It was later confirmed to be untrue and Mr Hobe was a patron who was busy refueling his vehicle at the time of the attack.
The deceased was one of three civilians who was struck by stray bullets in the armed assault.
A mother from Aerorand and her seven year-old daughter were both wounded in the leg.

The Middelburg SAPS have confirmed that a case of murder, as well as two attempted murders, have been opened and that the Hawks are currently leading the investigation.
It was confirmed that cash was in fact, stolen during the heist.
