Woman hacked to death with panga on Women’s Day
A man was arrested following the brutal killing of his own mother.
Bonginkosi Makua (20) allegedly hacked his mother, Phindile Shongwe (40), to death with a panga.
The gruesome attack took place on Women’s Day in Emtonjeni near Machadodorp.
A man reportedly hit her several times over the head and neck, resulting in her bleeding to death.
Police found the panga underneath a bed in Ms Shongwe’s home.
According to information, the deceased was an Emakhazeni Local Municipality employee.
The Belfast Magistrate’s Court was filled with ANC members on Monday, when Mr Makua made his first court appearance.
