Supermarkets, garages, cafes ordered to stop selling prepared meals

The SAPS has just announced a further lockdown on essential services by immediately halting the sale of prepared foods by supermarkets, garages, cafes and all other operational outlets.

All operational kitchens preparing and selling food has been effectively shut down, including the kitchens of Spar, Shoprite, Pick ‘n Pay and other stores.

Operating shops and food retailers are warned that a maximum of 50 shoppers may from now on be allowed to shop at a time.

Shops that don’t adhere to the new regulations will be closed immediately.

“The police has been instructed to see to it that all kitchens are closed and the sale of prepared foods halted,” Captain Khanyesile Zwane told www.mobserver.co.za.

She warns that shops not adhering to the maximum threshold of 50 shoppers at a time will be closed.

“Zero tolerance will be shown,” Captain Zwane said.
