The Executive Mayor of Steve Tshwete Local Municipality, Mhlonishwa Masilela, attended the 9th annual Everest Financial Services Charity Golf Day, highlighting both local sporting achievements and significant donations to community initiatives.

​During the event, an official letter was read on behalf of the municipal manager Mandla Mnguni, confirming financial support for several local beneficiary organisations.

The donations totaling R30 000 were allocated, with R10 000 each directed to the three foundations.

Masilela shared a few light-hearted remarks about his performance on the course before reflecting on the day’s achievements.

​”In short, I got 102 on this golf day. If you divide by 18 holes, the average is going fast to 5.6. which means I’ve done better than last year,” he said.

Masilela also urged attendees to prioritise road safety as they traveled home from the event.

​”There is one message I want to give you, drive safely when you go home. I have camera all around the Middelburg.” he emphasised.

“We have many drivers, so drive safely. It’s a fact.”

Masilela noted the broader community context of the charity event, referencing ongoing local government programmes.

​”We are doing this charity at the period of the Taking Legislature to the People,” Masilela stated.

“I have MECs around here and colleagues.”

He also addressed the issue of gunshot that led to two people dying in Mhluzi on August 30.

“These gunshots that were done on Sunday, we will arrest them soon.”

​The annual charity golf day continues to serve as a key event for Everest Financial Services to engage with municipal leadership and raise funds for local non profit initiatives.
