Final deadline for public submission

Middelburg residents have until Friday, 22 May, to submit their comments on the draft 2020/2021 budget.

The draft was tabled during a previous council sitting by Mayor Bagudi Tolo, although the national lockdown has halted the municipality’s annual budget indaba’s, virtual council sittings have been used since the lockdown was announced.

Because of the lockdown, the draft budget had also not been made available at public libraries and other council venues for scrutiny.

Ward councillors have also been supplied with copies, alongside the necessary comment forms to be submitted with public proposals. The budget includes proposed tariff increases of between 5% and 8%.
