Two suspects arrested in connection with petrol attendant’s murder

Two suspects have been arrested in connection with the murder of Lifa Yinda (39), the Malawian national whose body was found concealed in a drain at a filling station in Hendrina.

According to a media statement issued by Col. Donald Mdhluli, Provincial Spokesperson for the SAPS, the two male suspects aged 24 and 27, were arrested Thursday evening.

The SAPS confirmed that Yinda was employed as a petrol attendant at the filling station where his body was found.
His colleagues told police that he had been absent for about a week before the discovery, but his disappearance was never reported.

The filling station’s manager noted a “strange smell” emanating from a water drain at the filling station, where Yinda’s half naked body was then discovered.
Police were then summoned to the scene and a case of murder was opened.

The two suspects are expected to appear in the Hendrina Magistrate’s Court today facing charges of murder.
