Community given a holly jolly Christmas

HMJ Glassworx has partnered with numerous businesses across Middelburg to deliver 6 000 parcels with something sweet in it.

 

Last night, bakkies adorned with dazzling lights accompanied a truck with none other than Santa Claus himself perched on the cargo bed.

With Christmas music blaring through the streets, several stops were made at preselected locations to hand over the hampers.

Any residents who did not have the opportunity of participating in the festivities, will be able to remedy their blunder both tonight and tomorrow evening.

Tonight’s journey will comprise of Bloekomsig, Kanonkop, Dennesig and Rivierpark, while the agenda for tomorrow will include Mhluzi, Nazaret and Gholfsig.

The trek across Middelburg begins at 17:15 and usually lasts for a few hours.

• Michiel and Desireé Brits founded this initiative in 2017 to give joy to those in desperate need of a helping hand during the festive period.

Their legacy flourishes through their son Jaco, who has taken the responsibility to lead the initiative forward after a difficult patch during the lockdown period of Covid-19.
