Municipality tight-lipped on worker’s death

The municipal worker that sadly lost his life whilst working yesterday at the Middelburg Dam has still not been formally identified by his family.

The man was working on the dam wall when his clothes became caught on an object, resulting in him falling to his death.

Mayor Mhlonishwa Masilela and Municipal Manager Mandla Mnguni rushed to the scene shortly after the incident occurred.

The officials declined to comment on the incident and said a media statement would be released on Tuesday.

The municipality has not addressed the tragic incident since it happened.
