uBhetyan lodge suffers shocking fire

Lightning has struck local wildlife lodge and game farm, uBhetyan-O-Africa, causing a fire that destroyed their resturant among other damages.

A severe storm hit Middelburg and its surrounding area last night, with lightning striking uBhetyan-O-Africa’s thatched roof at roughly 22:30, engulfing the lodge’s restaurant in flames.

The fire caused uBhetyan’s entire restaurant to burn down, with the lodge’s food supply for their animals ruined, alongside the utensils and equipment used to prepare the aforementioned food.

Deon and Susan Cornelius issued the following statement on uBhetyan’s Facebook page, “Our staff and animals are safe. uBhetyan will be closed to the public this weekend to clean up.’

‘But we will again be in full swing by next weekend with a brand new furnished restaurant space, delicious buffet and accommodation. We see this as a challenge that was put on our path and we know God has a bigger plan. Thank you for all your support”
