While his wife was off the premises, Jan was attacked on his farm, which is situated near Ermelo on the Nelspan Ground Road.

Jan was murdered during an altercation with the attackers.

Neighbouring farmers who had helped search for Jan, discovered his body last evening at 22:00.

Firearms were stolen alongside a red Toyota Hilux KZTE model, which has been found abandoned in Breyten.

At this stage, it is unclear who or how many assailants committed this senseless act of violence.
