Dare to be great

The TRACN4 Elands Marathon invites runners to put on their running shoes and enter the “most scenic Comrades qualifier in Mpumalanga”.

Set to take place on March 2, for the most part, the race is run on the Maputo Corridor.

The Trans African Concessions and Nedbank LVCC Running Club event is one of the most prestigious Mpumalanga races of the calendar season.

The main event is of course the 42.2km, which starts from Laerskool Oosterlijn in Emgwenya (Waterval Boven), which also serves as a qualifier for the TotalSports Two Oceans 2024.

The event also offers a 21.1km half marathon that will begin at the Malaga Hotel on the N4.
The 10km will start and finish at the Sappi Skills Training Centre.

Since the race’s reinstatement in 2022, a highlight has been the phenomenal water points, with the hosts going the extra mile to ensure the runners remain hydrated and strong.
Three extra water points have been added to back 17km of the 42.2km race, to help combat the steep declines and the blistering heat the Lowveld is renowned for.

Race Director Mandla Nxumalo stated, “We are very excited to be able to have additional water points at this year’s Elands Marathon, as they add value to the race. We strongly believe water points make or break a marathon, and since bringing back this event, we have dedicated so much to these points.”

As an added bonus to the excitement, a Race Expo is planned to be held on March 1, at Astron Energy Millys, which will be attended by none other than the record nine-time winner of the Comrades Marathon, Bruce Fordyce.

The expo will serve as the pick-up point for race packs, and feature the latest racing technologies, apparel and gear.

Registrations for the 2024 TRACN4 Elands Marathon are open until February 18, with only online entries accepted.
