Caring Hannes passes away

The well-known Hannes Koch (85) passed away on Monday after losing consciousness while exercising at Virgin Active.

Mr Koch went to the gymnasium on Friday. While exercising on the treadmill, he passed out and was taken to the Life Midmed Hospital.

Later that same day, he was taken by helicopter to the Wilgers Hospital in Pretoria and admitted to the cardiac intensive care unit until his passing.

His wife, Elke, said she met him when she was only 17 years old, “It was love at first sight.” They were married for 54 years.

His family described him as a loving, caring and patient person, who loved nature.

Mr Koch loved nature.

He is survived by his wife, children Renée and Volker, and three grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, April 22, at 11:00 at the Reformed Church in Bhimy Damane Street.
