Nkangala Equestrian Show this weekend!

The second annual equestrian extravaganza will take place at the Pienaardam Leisure Resort, with anyone and everyone welcome to enjoy and participate in the four-day event.

The Nkangala Equestrian Club invites YOU to their Youth Day 2024 Equestrian Show!

The show is set to take place from June 14–17 and will focus on the enjoyment of the equestrian sport while showcasing talent from across the Nkangala region.

Formal equestrian disciplines presented at the show will include show jumping, dressage, showing and eventing.

Individual entries are accepted online and in advance. Show entry fees are R300 per class.

While formal disciplines showcase the prowess and skill of riders and horses, the organisers will find time for some fun events for teams consisting of three riders, their horses and two grooms.

These fun events will take place after the official classes of the day and will happen throughout the weekend.

The team events are always the highlight for competitors, and fabulous trophies go out to the best riders, teams and yards.

Teams are entered at R500 per team and include all the fun events.

Since every horse needs a home, stable yards are well represented at the show and also compete for prizes and a fabulous trophy.

The prestigious “Battle of the Yards” trophy for the yard best represented throughout the weekend will be presented at the prize-giving ceremony.

Not only will the winners of formal and informal classes win trophies and medals, but victor ludorums will be identified in three age groups and will win fantastic pieces of art along with floating trophies and other prizes.

A fundraising auction will take place during the ceremony, and spot prizes will go out to winners of the Instagram Photo Frame Competition. This is not to be missed.

Coincidentally, Father’s Day on June 16 forms part of the Youth Day weekend, and what better way to treat your dad than with a day of cool classic cars and fantastic braaivleis.

Classic car enthusiasts are invited to display their vintage beauties for free while enjoying the atmosphere and spit braai on Sunday.

Tickets are R250 for adults and R150 for kids under 12. (The Nkangala Equestrian Club does ask that there be no loud sound systems, as this may frighten the horses.)

The prize-giving ceremony will happen on Monday afternoon after the main show-jumping event. Everybody is invited to honour the best in every category as the winning teams are announced and presented with the sought-after trophies.

If you need any more information, please email nkangalaclub@gmail.com, or call the club on 082 563 5631.
