Body found in Tarries Park

The Middelburg Observer has notified emergency services of the location of the body.

A body of a seemingly middle-aged man was found in Tarries Park, at around 16:30 this afternoon.

The body was found within Tarries Park opposite Dam Street.

The Observer made their way to the scene after being alerted by Cobus Fourie and his son Johan.

Cobus and his son were working on building tracks, when two men told them they had found a man lying motionless on a mattress.

One of the men who first discovered the body, Phinias Mmadi, told the Observer, “The man had been staying in the park for a few weeks, along with another man named Vincent. The man who died was sick, two days ago we gave him a 5 litre bottle of water and yesterday he was complaining about his stomach.”

The man was lying on his backside, having clearly vomited over himself.

Emergency services have been notified and are on their way to the location.
