Multiple vehicles involved in N4 collisions due to smoke

Fires raging around N4 brings traffic to a standstil

Multiple vehicle collisions have been reported on the N4 between Middelburg and Belfast due to thick smoke affecting visibbility.

In one of the collisions five cars and one truck is reportedly involved.

Another more serious collision also occurred close to the Alzu Petroport with emergency services rushing to the scene.

Meanwhile TRAC announced that the Eastbound lanes had been temporarily closed for the smoke to clear.

The collision follows on Tuesday’s multiple vehicle collision near the Middelburg Toll Plaza where eight vehicles were said to be involved.

Tuesday’s collision also resulted in temporary closures of the N4 in both directions.
