Residents of Mhluzi say that bursts of gunfire also rang out during this morning’s bombing of an empty safe at a Mhluzi filling station.
Automatic rifles were most probably also used, residents say.
A gang of robbers attacked the station around 03:00 this morning, targeting the safe, Colonel Donald Mdluli told Middelburg Observer.
Realizing that the safe was empty, the robbers turned on the garage staff and robbed them of personal belongings.
