Video: Moments before crash caught on CCTV

CCTV footage of yesterday’s accident on Dr Mandela Drive has been sent to the Middelburg Observer.

The moment before an accident on Dr Mandela Drive on Sunday morning can be partially seen in CCTV footage sent to the Middelburg Observer.

There was only one person involved in the single-vehicle incident, who tragically lost his life as a result.

The incident took place near Hoekberg Street.

In the tape captured at 03:34, you can see a bakkie begin to spin out of control, and the ensuing dust rising into the air.

Vehicles can be seen travelling towards the Middelburg Mall, with the bakkie heading in the opposite direction, but nothing suggests that the other vehicles may have caused the driver of the bakkie to lose control.

The Traffic Alert WhatsApp group was notified of the accident at precisely 04:11.

The Middelburg Observer was sent the footage by a concerned resident, who wishes to remain anonymous.

They said they hoped the video could help explain the cause of the crash.
