(Video) Morning after fan park viewing at Kees Taljaard

Residents in Kanonkop woke up to an eyesore.

This comes after the municipality hosted a live screening of the Nedbank Cup game between Soweto giants, Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs (1-2).

When the Middelburg Observer visited the Kees Taljaard Sports Complex at around 09:30 today, after complaints from residents, they found beer bottles scattered outside the stadium.

The sports field where rugby is usually played was in a state of disarray with litter and empty liquor bottles in abundance.

The Observer journalist also spotted three recyclers who were picking up recyclable materials.

  • Lerato Kgomo, spokesperson of the Steve Tshwete Local Municipality, stated that the municipality normally starts the cleaning process the day after the event, as per usual with all events hosted at municipal facilities.
