Joshua blocks the noise with optimism

Joshua faces challenges, pain and suffering head-on.

While others might see running as a hobby, Joshua Banda, a runner from Mineralia, sees it as his daily grind.
Running is where he processes things, builds mental toughness, and stretches his limits.

His recent triumph was running 42.2km from Middelburg to Groblersdal on June 29. He aimed to run a straight 12 hours, with no stops and no shortcuts, but only managed to run for eight.

Joshua drew his inspiration from wanting to strip away his comforts, distractions and limits. Photo: supplied.

He started in the early hours and finished in the afternoon, crossing into Groblersdal on pure grit and determination.
Joshua said his life has been very loud lately, and he needed to silence the noise, so he chose suffering on purpose, and learning from it.

He embarked on the run as a test of focus and endurance, and described the long run as brutal, but also beautiful.
This was not about numbers for him, but about discipline, pain and pushing past limits.
