CPF catches suspect amid escalating water meter thefts

Patrolling members of the Middelburg CPF apprehend suspected water meter thief.

Chairperson of the Middelburg CPF, Juanitha Groenewald, has commended the members of the operative as well as the local SAPS for the arrest of an alleged water meter thief yesterday morning.

According to Groenewald, members of the CPF Sector 4 were busy with patrols in Kanonkop on Friday morning at 04:00, when they apprehended one suspect in connection with escalating water meter thefts in Middelburg.

Water meter suspects ‘caught wet-handed’

The suspect was apprehended on the corner of Renoster- and Tulip Street, and two stolen water meters were recovered.

The suspect was then handed over to the Middelburg SAPS.

“I wish to thank the members of Middelburg SAPS for their rapid response, their cooperation and exceptional service. I also wish to thank the members of CPF Sector 4 for their hard work,” Groenewald said.

  • It cannot be confirmed whether the suspect has made a formal court appearance.
