Your November top stories recap

A roundup of the biggest stories that shaped November, highlighting the major news events, community moments, and standout articles.

• The month of November started off with a bang, as the prestigious Alzu Tour de Farm Mountain Bike Race took place at the Alzu N4 Petroport. Over a thousand cyclists from all around came to show off their talent at the bike race, which is held annually.

We saw MHS walk away with a R10 000 prize for the school with the most entries. HTS Middelburg’s very own Jean du Plessis emerged victorious in the 120km Men’s Mountain Bike Race. The heart and motivation behind this race all originated from the need and the will to give back to the children of Middelburg.

• On November 21, we learnt of a touching story of Vicky Seboane from Extension 18, who has dedicated over 20 years of his life to caring for grieving families and the maintenance of graveyards all around town. Vicky has been working for the municipality since 1984. Vicky said he loves the peace of mind his job brings him, and knowing he can bring comfort to grieving families in their time of need has kept him motivated for all these years.

• We ended the month with the G20 Women For Change GBV march that was hosted on November 21, where participants marched from the Middelburg Magistrate’s Court to the Mhluzi Police Station to say enough is enough and call for GBV and femicide to be declared a national disaster. This march happened countrywide and even gained traction online and on an international level.
