One dead, another injured in Newtown stabbings

Police say fight led to bloodshed.

One person has died following a reported stabbing incident in Mhluzi, near Newtown, this morning (06 February).

Information circulating on social media indicates that two foreign nationals were involved in an altercation that escalated into a stabbing. It has since been confirmed that one individual succumbed to fatal injuries.

The incident reportedly occurred at around 11:30. Police and emergency services were seen at the scene shortly thereafter.

The circumstances surrounding the stabbing remain unclear. No official motive has been confirmed, and authorities have not yet released details regarding arrests or the identities of those involved.

While initial social media posts suggested that two people were injured, only one fatality has been confirmed at this stage.

Police investigations are ongoing.
