Middelburg charities host Valentine’s Day event
The Middelburg SPCA and CMR are hosting the Hope, Hearts and Hounds event tomorrow at Aerorand Primary School. A family-friendly fundraiser featuring dog competitions, kids entertainment, food stalls, and prizes, all in support of children and animals in dire need.
Wagging tails, eager noses, and open hearts will take centre stage tomorrow as CMR Middelburg and the SPCA Middelburg host a community fundraising Valentine’s Day event where children, families, and four-legged friends come together for a greater cause.
The event takes place tomorrow from 09:00 to 16:00 at Aerorand Primary School. More than just a Valentine’s Day outing, the initiative focuses on two core missions: supporting children in need and strengthening animal welfare in our town.
Visitors can expect a packed programme filled with dog competitions, children’s entertainment, interactive dog training sessions, food stalls, and prizes will be up for grabs. From adorable puppies to wise old ‘golden oldies’, the spotlight will be on personality, rescue stories, and the special bond between pets and their owners.
Popular categories include a crowd-favourite, Owner-and-Dog Lookalike Competition, Cutest Furbaby, Golden Oldie, and Best Rescue Story, which celebrates not only fluffy coats and floppy ears, but second chances and meaningful connections.
A professional photographer will also be on site to capture special moments between owners and their pets, whether it’s tiny paws or joyful family snapshots.
The goal of Hope, Hearts & Hounds is simple, but essential, to raise funds and awareness for vulnerable children and animals in the community. It is the work that both CMR Middelburg and the SPCA carry out daily, often behind the scenes.
Entrance is R80 per adult and R40 for children under 11, with free entry for children under four.
With barking greetings, laughter from children and families gathering for the day of love, the Hope, Hearts & Hounds event promises to be a reminder that Middelburg shows up when it matters.
