30-Hour water interruption expected again as Vaalbank water plant undergoes maintenance

Residents in several areas will experience a temporary water supply interruption as refurbishment work continues at the Vaalbank Water Purification Plant.

Residents are reminded that a scheduled water interruption will take place tomorrow (March 11) as part of the ongoing refurbishment project at the Vaalbank Water Purification Plant.

The interruption forms part of an eight-week maintenance programme aimed at upgrading ageing infrastructure at the plant to improve the quality and reliability of potable water supplied to communities.

According to officials from the Department of Water and Sanitation and the Steve Tshwete Local Municipality, the shutdown will last up to 30 hours.

Residents are advised to store enough water and use it sparingly during the shutdown.

A municipal notice confirmed that the CBD, Extension 18, Extension 11, Mineralia, Vaalbank, Industrial, Gholfsig, Clubville, Uitkyk, Mhluzi, Tokologo, Newtown, Kanonkop, Dennesig, Eastdene, Hlalamnandi, Aerorand, Rondebosch, Nasaret, Extension 24, and Rockdale will be affected.

Residents are urged to remain patient while the upgrades are underway, as the project aims to ensure improved water quality and a more reliable supply in the future.
