Pienaar Dam is on the market

Resort built from bare ground to boasting facilities

Pienaar Dam is being sold.
The well-known resort, just a stone’s throw outside Middelburg on the Bethal road, was built over the last 30 years by the Gerrits family from bare ground to what it offers today
Initially, there was only one chalet, and the dam was more known for fishing – that was it!

Offers close on April 9

Today, it offers accommodation in the form of self-catering rondavels, chalets, and houses. There is an equestrian centre, a swimming pool, a large restaurant, a predator park, 220 hectares of agricultural land, and serviced camping facilities.
Public tenders are currently being awaited.
Offers close on April 9 at 12:00.

Pienaar Dam owner Gerrie Gerrits said it’s been hard work over the past 30 years to build the resort to where it is today and to maintain it, “We are tired,” he said.
The entire family, including his two daughters and sons-in-law, are still involved in one way or another to smooth things over for Gerrits Trust.
Gerrie did not want to commit to an amount they would accept but said ‘they would wait and see what happens’.

  • Over the years, Pienaar Dam has become particularly popular for its sheep’s head evening (skaapkopaand), New Year’s Eve dances, cross-country races, bicycle races, weddings, and team building events.
