The Department of Community Safety, Security and Liaison is offering a listening ear to a fed up Mhluzi community.
The department will host an Imbizo in Mhluzi on Saturday from 10:00.
The Imbizo will take place in the open public space in Extension 5.
The SAPS crime statistics for the 2025/2026 third quarter identifies the top 30 stations in each crime category.
Despite not being mentioned anywhere on the national top 30 lists, Mhluzi features prominently on the provincial breakdown of crimes per station.
Prevalent crimes in the area include contact crimes such as murder, while robbery at non-residential premises is also a big problem.
Mpumalanga has surged to top 30 spots on the national lists for rapes and sexual assault.
Mpumalanga MEC for Community Safety, Security and Liaison, Jackie Macie, will lead the Imbizo and the aim is to partner with the community to reduce crime.
The Imbizo will also provide residents a platform to raise concerns with police.
Various other state organs, like members of the Justice, Crime Prevention and Security cluster, whose departments include SAPS, Home Affairs, Correctional Services, Justice and Constitutional Development, and others, will also be on hand.
Communities with outstanding cases that were not satisfactorily addressed are encouraged to bring details with case numbers to receive on-site assistance.
