After the Observer contacted Wait regarding the complaints, she immediately reached out to all relevant stakeholders.

Signage prohibiting trucks from stopping in the street is now set to be erected.

Drivers park in left lane to shop

Traffic has been severely disrupted over the past few months by truck drivers stopping in the left lane, switching on their hazard lights, and then going shopping.

Motorists were forced to wait behind the trucks before moving into the right lane.
Traffic congestion was particularly severe, and merging into the busy open lane posed a danger.

Traffic department promises new signs

The traffic department has already investigated the matter and committed to installing ‘no stopping’ signs.

However, motorists will need to remain patient in the interim, as the changes will not happen overnight.
