Cramps plague Race to the Sun cyclists

Jan shows he can in 100 Miler

Cramps forced Willie van Straaten out of the Race to the Sun over 100 miles (160km) from Hartbeespoort to Sun City last Saturday.
Van Straaten said he had a good first 120km, “Then everything seized up, and my legs started cramping. At the last water point, I decided to throw in the towel.”

Another Middelburg Cycling Club member, Francois Hefer, also struggled badly with cramps, but still managed to finish the race.
Things also went well for Jan Montshioa and Abrie du Plessis, who finished the race in 04:58:27 and 04:58:05, respectively.

Mountain and gravel cyclists are now preparing for the Alzu 100 and 50 Miler, which starts on July 25 at the Alzu Petroport.
