Middelburg Flying Squad leads massive drug bust

The teams executed a safe takedown, stopping the vehicle and recovering multiple large bales of cannabis.

The Middelburg Flying Squad was part of a major illegal drug bust yesterday afternoon near Mamelodi in Pretoria.

The police were supported by private security companies Echo-1 and BHS K9.

The operation began when authorities received a tip-off yesterday morning about a large quantity of drugs being smuggled into South Africa.

The joint teams were quickly assembled to track down and stop the smugglers.

In the afternoon, the team members spotted the suspects’ vehicle near Mamelodi, and they moved in quickly to execute a safe takedown, stopping the vehicle without incident.

During the search, authorities found and seized multiple large bales of cannabis.

The exact weight of the drugs is yet to be confirmed, while the vehicle used to transport the drugs has been impounded.

Two foreign nationals were arrested at the scene and taken into police custody.
